Berlin gets a new airport.
Further InformationBerlin Airports operates the two airports Tegel and Schönefeld. From 2012 all air traffic for the German capital city region will be bundled at the new airport Berlin Brandenburg International BBI, which will be built on the site of the current Schönefeld airport. Tegel will be closed.
The development of the German capital’s congress and tourism business depends to a large extent on offering a range of flights suitable for the market. This is demonstrated not least by the rapid development of tourism figures in the past few years, which have more than doubled through the location of low cost traffic at Schönefeld. In the congress business long distance routes above all are of significance to the continued success of Berlin as a congress and conference metropolis.
