TAKE TO THE WATER IN BRANDENBURG
Brandenburg State is the area of Germany that surrounds Berlin and is home to Europe’s most extensive landscape of rivers and lakes, as well as idyllic countryside and a thermal spa – ideal for a relaxing and tranquil summer break.
Brandenburg has around 3,000 lakes and over 30,000 kilometers of waterways, making it Germany’s largest water landscape. The area is linked to Berlin by river and there are plenty of options for boat tours out to this region to visit attractions such as castle, monuments, as well as the thermal bath and spa park of Bad Saarow located on Lake Scharmützelsee.
This area also has its very own ‘Venice’. The Spreewald Forest is a unique labyrinth of thousands of streams which has given the area its nickname the ‘Venice of Brandenburg. It is a must for any visitor to the region to take a punt through these natural channels and enjoy the pristine landscape.
Combine a city stay in Berlin with some time in Brandenburg for the best of both worlds. German Travel Centre is currently offering a three night city break to Berlin from £270 in June including return flights and accommodation in a standard class hotel
Berlin is one of Germany’s most vibrant cities, especially in the summer where much of the action takes place outdoors in beach bars, swimming pools and street festivals. Brandenburg also offers many summer events including the Potsdam’s Night of the Palaces on the 17 August, a spectacular night of concerts, dancing, theatre and literary events in Sanssouci Park.
