The Welsh capital in the south of the country is a diverse city that has been influenced by the Romans and Normans, as well as the industrial revolution and coal industry. Today it is a thriving, international city with many historical and cultural attractions, as well as being the home to the new BBC Wales studios in Cardiff Bay that is the location for Doctor Who, Casualty and Upstairs Downstairs. The city is also known for its sports and was designated a City of Sport for 2009, with the world renowned Millennium Stadium being one of the UK’s top event and sports venue.
