Isle of Man
The Isle of Man is a beautiful Island with breathtaking scenery, unspoilt beaches and a relaxed pace of life, famous for being a tax haven and home to the tailless Manx cat and the four-horned Loghtan sheep that are unique to the Isle. Located in the Irish Sea 83 miles from Liverpool and 90 miles from Belfast, it is part of the British Isles but not the United Kingdom. It is a Crown Dependency, with its own parliament, Tynwald, founded by the Vikings making it one of the oldest continuous parliaments in Europe. Tourist can expect to find an island of contrasts, steeped in myths and legends, and with a laid back friendliness. Attractions include the islands spectacular 100-mile coastline of expansive sands, resorts, bustling harbours and headlands. Its capital, Douglas retains its Victorian feel with its long promenade and offers attractive waterside restaurants, cafes and bars.
